Mr. Clarence Carman Wood, 53, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 , at his residence on Mooresville Pike in Columbia. Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be conducted Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home in Pulaski with Reverend John Rushing and Reverend Barry Alsup officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday, July 2, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, and Tuesday, July 3, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The Giles County native was the son of the late Clarence Chapman Wood and Mary Frances Eubanks Humm of Columbia. He was married to Susan Denise Underwood Wood. He was a lead person in operations for Spontex, and had worked at Pulaski Rubber Company for 17 years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, enjoyed music, and was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Tara Wood Norwood of Minor Hill; son, Morgan Tyler Wood of Columbia; step-daughter, Wanda Susanna Stephens of Columbia; step-son, Danny Ray Stephens of Lewisburg; grandson, Reece Norwood of Minor Hill; sister, Sarena (Randy) Lovett of Columbia; half-sisters, Rita Wood of Nashville and Ann Wood of Pulaski; niece, Cindy (Tom) Russell of Columbia; nephew, Tim (Brandy) Stewart of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Wood of Pulaski. Pallbearers will be Howard Sonny Love, Jerry Lewis, Harold Gibson, Bob Hendrix, John Englett, and Mike Green. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Spontex and Dr. Ben Gardner. The family would like to extend a special heart-felt thanks to Jona Whitwell in his dedication in bringing Carman to accept the Lord as his Savior.
