Jo Anne Retz

Jo Anne Retz, age 77, a resident of Carters Creek Pike in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at her residence. The family will celebrate Jo Annes life on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. They will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 PM for visitation. Final services will be private, and are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home. Born June 20, 1935 in Terre Haute, IN, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Gorrell Jarvis. She was a homemaker. Jo Anne raised her children in Indianapolis, IN and moved back to Columbia in 1990, living some of her happiest years on the farm of Betsy, Lexie, and Sarah Sparkman. She had a special connection with a friend named Bill, and dedicated her life to helping friends in any way she could. Mrs. Retz is survived by a son: James (Becky) Retz of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter: Jennifer (Jim) Hunter of Indianapolis, IN; a brother: Raymond (Shirley) Jarvis of Corpus Christi, TX; two sisters: Betsy (Lexie) Sparkman and Gail Moser, both of Columbia; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her children: Joe Retz and Julie Retz; and a sister: Patricia Fletcher. You may share condolences with the family at the top of this page.
