Mrs. Ruth Haynes Morrison, age 83, a native of the Water Valley Community and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Life Care Center in Columbia. Funeral Services for Mrs. Morrison will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. John Vaughn and Bro. Wendell Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and then again on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge and assisting the family with the arrangements. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin Haynes and the late Bessie Brady Haynes. Following graduation from Santa Fe High School she worked at Maury Regional Medical Center for thirty-nine years in the business office. She was the wife of the late James W. Morrison, Jr. She was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ and was very involved with the ministries there. She attended the Ladies Bible Study on Wednesdays and her desire to assist and feed people led her to become involved with the Meals on Wheels at Graymere. She also loved to quilt and crochet. Her kind, giving, sweet, gentle presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Morrison left behind to cherish her memory a son, James (Cheryl) Morrison of Columbia, TN; a brother, Bill (Betty) Haynes of Columbia, TN; three grandchildren: Bill Gaskill, Leslie Morrison and Joel Morrison; two great grandchildren: Eva Maria Gaskill and Jonathan Gaskill and their mother, Michaela Gaskill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phillis Simmons, a brother, James Thomas Haynes and a nephew, Thomas Earl Haynes. Pallbearers will include: Joel Morrison, Bill Gaskill, Jimmy Farris, and George Chessor. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Stephen Haynes, David Haynes, Glenn Kinnard, Darryl Connelly, Wayne Hardison and Gordy Loveless. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maury Regional Healthcare Foundation or the charity of your choice.
