Larry Gene Sexton

May 19, 1949 - February 2, 2012

Mr. Larry Gene Sexton, age 62, husband of Pam Sexton and a resident of Powell Chapel Road in Pulaski, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his wife and children. Under the direction and assistance of Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee, the family gathered with friends at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bloomington, Indiana on Thursday, February 9th. Following a time of sharing laughter and tears, they honored his life with a brief celebration in the Chapel of the church. Reassembling at the cemetery a short time later, Larry was laid to rest with military honors provided by the United States Army at the Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. As his remains were lowered to their final rest, the family raised their eyes upwards as they released balloons, signifying his last journey into the arms of his Savior and Creator. The words of Amazing Grace rang out in song through the cemetery as the balloons faded into the winter sky. Larry was a man of faith and honor. He was affiliated with the Lawrenceburg Ward of the LDS Church and served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Larry was employed with GE for 32 years where he was a set-up man. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed life and loved to joke with family and friends. His greatest passion in life was people. He loved children and animals, and he and his wife had two children of their own and adopted seven others. In addition to his wife, Pam, Larry left to cherish his memory nine children: Inez James, Alysia May, and Nellie Sexton all of Bloomington, IN; Heather Sexton, James Sexton, Warren Sexton, Billy Sexton, Tyson Sexton, and Nicholas Sexton, all of Pulaski, TN; two sisters: Shirley Weddle of Pulaski, TN, Marilyn Paxton of Smithville, IN; two brothers: Barry Sexton Sr. of Bloomington, IN and Luther Sexton of Smithville, IN; and eight grandchildren: Christopher, Haley, Jayden, Jorden, Gavin, Gage, Hadley, and Alexus. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: William Everett and Sarah Elizabeth Butcher Sexton, and a brother, Phillip Sexton. Pallbearers were Jason Snyder, Mike May, Barry Sexton, Jr. Paul Cazee, Jr., Perry Sexton and C.J. James. Condolences may be sent to the family at the top of this page.
