Mr. Ray Thomas Brown, age 85, husband of the late Irene Rieves Brown and a resident of Paul Drive in Columbia passed away early Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be on Tuesday, February 14 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 " 7:00 PM at the funeral home and 10:00 " 11:00 AM before the funeral hour on Tuesday. A native of Culleoka, he was the son of the late Revis Sherman Brown and the late Fannie Sue Hight Brown. He proudly served our country in the Army. He relished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was raised in the Presbyterian faith. He was employed as a carpenter at T.W. Frierson. He appreciated the outdoors, and loved to cut firewood. He was instrumental in helping restore his daughters historic East Nashville home. He loved his workshop, listening to country music, and spending time with his little canine companion, Roxie. He left behind to cherish his memory one daughter; Donna K. (Kenneth) Anderson of Franklin, TN; two grandchildren; Tiffany (Mark) Henderson of Mt. Juliet and Jonathan T. Thurman of Antioch; and four great grandchildren: Liam David Henderson, Rhys Thomas Henderson, Haylie Y. Thurman, and Jackson Dwight Thurman. In addition to his wife, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a son; Danny Ray Brown and two sisters: Gladys Ingram and Pauline Kelly. Memorials in his honor may be made to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital and Caris Hospice. Condolences may be sent to the family at the top of this page.
