James W. Johnson, 76, the husband of Jeanne Johnson and a resident of Cedar Brook Lane in Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee, with Preacher Carl May officiating. Interment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens in Columbia. The family will visit with friends on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements. A native of New Market, Alabama, he was the son of the late Earl Roy Johnson and the late Clara Mae Walker Johnson. He was a retired Inventory Supervisor Accountant with Lifeway Christian Services in Nashville, Tennessee. He received a General Discharge under honorable conditions from the Armed Forces of the United States of America Marine Corps on the 14th day of August, 1956. He was a member of the Berea Church of Christ. Mr. Johnson was a loving family man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His family fondly recalls him enjoying spending time on the porch listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. His pride and joy was his lovely granddaughter. Among his other interests were sports; he was an avid baseball and football fan who was loyal to his favorite Vanderbilt team. In addition to his wife, he left behind to cherish his memory one daughter, Lisa (Danny) Steely of Lewisburg, TN; one granddaughter, Sarah Steely of Davidson, NC; two brothers: Roy and Bobby Johnson of McMinnville, TN; one sister-in-law, Anne Gunter of Red Boiling Springs, TN; three brother & sister-in-laws, Norman and Donnie Faught of Williamsport, TN, William and Kay Kennedy of McHenry, MD, and Jerry and Ellen Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Johnson. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will include: Dr. Gaylon Harris, Dr. Mark Messinger, Dr. M. Moataz Toban, and Dr. Narra.
