Mr. Melvin June Pie Braden, age 62, and a resident of Columbia, TN passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with James Maddox officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A native of Columbia, Melvin was born on November 28, 1950 as was the son of the late Melvin Braden, Sr. and Juanita Anthony Dial. He previously worked as a dietitian for NHC in Cool Springs as well as for Union Carbide, LDM Technologies in Franklin, and CPS Industries. He attended Central Baptist Primitive Church. Melvin was very active in and loved sports, especially baseball. He also enjoyed dancing and partying. He is survived by six brothers: James Dial, John Anthony Dial, Timothy Dial, Rodney Dial, Tijuan (Shauna) Dial, and Jason Dial; four sisters: Gloria Oden, Tonya (Jesse) Miller, Jackie Dial, and Jerrica (Shan) Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a step-sister: Patricia Dial. Pallbearers will be Junior Davidson, Ashley Goff, Charlie Mitchell, Brent Anderson, Remey Martin, and James Polk. Flower girls will be Shirley Mitchell, Roberta Dobbins, Beverly Alcorn, Carol Palkki, Michelle Bellafant, and Patrisha Stewart. Maurice Bellafant will serve as an honorary pallbearer, and Latonya Dixon will serve as an honorary flower girl. You may share condolences with the family at the top of the page.
