Mr. G. C. Potts, age 81, loving husband of Cora Lee Potts, and a life-long resident of the Old Natchez Trace in Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Potts will be conducted on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Horace H. Potts and the late Icie D. Byrd Potts. Mr. Potts has been married to his bride for over 59 years. He has farmed, gardened, and collected automobiles and trucks that he was always fixing and tinkering with. He attended car shows, loved his family, and adored his grandchildren. Mr. Potts retired from the Maury County Highway Department after forty-four years of faithful service. In addition to his wife; Mr. Potts is survived by two sons, Jerry Clay Potts & George Carl Potts, both of Santa Fe; two daughters; Brenda Kay Potts & Linda Fay Potts, also from Santa Fe, two granddaughters, Cindy Ulm of Columbia, TN and Rebecca Potts of Santa Fe, TN, two grandsons; Bobby Potts of Santa Fe, TN and Timmy Potts of Lyles, TN. Five great grandchildren, one brother, Larry Potts of Columbia, TN, six sisters, Mary Jones, Ivy Parr, Mable Goodman, Ruby Malugin, Beatrice Duvall, Barbara Cole; all of Columbia. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Mai Potts and two brothers, George Wesley and Buster Potts. Pallbearers for Mr. Potts will be James Scott, Shane Foster, Roger Humphrey, John Scott, Brandon Tidwell, Dillon Scott, and Timmy Potts. Honorary Pallbearers will be the former and present employees of the Maury County Highway Department. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the family.
