Ross Edward Lawrence

March 22, 1931 - November 27, 2012

Mr. Ross Edward Lawrence, age 81, and a resident of Columbia, TN passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at his residence. Born on March 22, 1931 in Scott Depot, WV. He was the son of the late Joseph and Grace Stephens Lawrence and the husband of Dorothy Dotty Lawrence. He was retired from the US Air Force with 20 years' service and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Fifth Ave Baptist Church in Huntington WV and later a member of 1st Baptist Church in Spring Hill. Mr. Lawrence loved woodworking, fishing, canasta and his grandchildren. Along with his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his daughters: Debra Kay (Victor) Willis of Englewood, FL, Laura (Dino) Dygert of Huntington, WV, Mary (Shawn) Rennie of Spring Hill, TN, and Sarah Elizabeth (Kevin) Fischer of Columbia, TN; brother: James V. Lawrence of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Christopher (Abi) Willis, Rebekkah Willis, Zachary Willis, Abbey Willis, Josh (Kristin) Dygert, Ashley (Eric) Hooks, Dina Dygert (Michael Davenport), Austin Rennie, Braden Fischer and Zoey Fischer; great grandchildren: Collin Dygert, Zane Hooks, Aiden Hooks, Dustin Hooks, Nyle Dygert-Hooks and David Davenport; several nieces and nephews, including: Mary Ann and Jack Baylor, Joe and Dee Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Butch and Debbie Siders, Suzie and Chuck Cole, Kaylen, Alex and Emma Cole; special cousins: Eva, Anna Lee, Susie, Janie and Kevin Stephens. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Sandra Elaine Lawrence; a brother: Joseph Lawrence; best friend and cousin: Kenneth Ray Stephens. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 2nd at 1:00PM at the Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, WV with Dr. Victor B. Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrence Cemetery in Scott Depot, WV. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chris Willis, Zack Willis, Josh Dygert, Eric Hooks, Michael Davenport and Alex Cole. Memorials may be made to the Cabell Wayne Association for the Blind, 38 Washington Ave., Huntington, WV. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of and assisting the family with arrangements.
