Mr. George William Harvey, 68, a resident of Elliott Court in Columbia, passed away Monday, March 4 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services for Mr. Harvey will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 8 from the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Clark and Bro. Billy Ray King officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Promise at Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 7 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until the service hour in the Hunter Room of Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. Born October 13, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late George Washington Harvey and Rosemary Leona Dean Harvey. On July 13, 1985 he married Cathy Morrow Hancock in Indianapolis, IN. He was a retired electrician with the GM-Saturn plant and served in the United States Air Force. George expressed his Christian faith in God and had many friends at the Church of God Prophecy on Williamsport Pike in Columbia. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially spending time with grandsons: Andrew and Daniel Dreher. He had a mind for technology and science related issues and enjoyed gardening, where he could make anything grow. In addition to his wife of 27 years: Cathy; he is survived by his children: Jay Harvey of Tacoma, WA, Angel Brown of Plainfield, IN; Jill Edmondson of Fishers, IN, Brad Hancock of Murfreesboro, TN, and Stephanie Dreher of Lewisburg, TN; a brother: Stephen Brockman of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister: Rebecca Moran of Indianapolis, IN; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his beloved dog: Bandit. Pallbearers will be Leon Nellinger, Richard Wisker, Norman Sparks, Kent Heiny, Jay Harvey, and Brad Hancock. You may share condolences with the family at the top of this page.
