Mr. Carter Gresham Bostick, age 68, a long time resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully at his home with his family and friends and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 17, 2013. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Dustin Laster of Hampshire Baptist Church officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Thursday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bostick was born in Dallas, Texas on February 5, 1945 and was the son of the late Merry Carter and Mary Louise Gresham Bostick, Jr., formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Columbia. He was the grandson of the late Merry Carter and Nannie Gray Bostick, Sr., who came from Williamson County and were early settlers in the 1900s in Mt. Pleasant. He was married to Frankie Anne Johns Bostick of Cross Bridges, and they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on May 16, 2013. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy, class of 1963, was a Staff Sgt., and held a Marksmanship Medal and attended Tennessee Tech, Cookeville. He previously worked at Wagster-Bailey Drug Store in Mt. Pleasant and Skillerns Drug Store in downtown Dallas, Texas, Minnie Pearl Chicken manager in Nashville, Holiday Inn Motel manager in Alcoa, TN, and Reidsville, NC, and retired on disability as a dispatcher of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. He devoted 34 years of service and dedication to the Mt. Pleasant LIONS Club, having served as president, secretary, and zone chairman and was an active participant in the clubs fundraising activities for Sight Service for the Blind. He earned numerous awards on the local level, including several Lion of the Year and Lion of the Decade, and was presented the Melvin Jones Fellowship in 1994 by the Middle Tennessee District of LIONS Clubs for his work on the district level. He was a member of Hampshire Baptist Church, but due to his disability, he frequently enjoyed the internet program of Rev. Mac Bronson, Jacksonville Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. Among his survivors are his wife, Mrs. Frankie Johns Bostick; one son: Christopher Alan Bostick and wife, Millie; three grandchildren: Mary Kay Waski, James Edward Jorgensen, US Army, Ben Diamond; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Johns Dooley of Fayetteville, Linda Johns (Norman) Orton of Ethridge; and a brother-in-law: Billie Ray (Janis) Johns of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby older sister, three aunts: Lila Leftwich Bostick, Frances Abston Bostick, Virginia Bostick (A.C.) Wall; three sisters-in-law: Mary Edith (Archie) Kelley, Lily Gertrude Jones Nash, Nina Lee (Don) Severson; and six brothers-in-law: Porter B. Johns, Jr., Mahlon Jackson Johns, Archie Porter Kelley, Billy Dooley, Don Severson, and Virgil Jones. Mr. Bostick was devoted to his family and friends and his two surviving dogs, Scooter and Twig. Dustin Laster, Linda & Norman Orton, Thomas Edwards, Billy & Pat Smith, Billie & Janis Johns, Joyce Johns, John & Melba Rogers, Ed Wilman, Martha Springer, Barbara Massey, Wally & Brenda Hebert, Angie & Melinda Sanders, Rose, Sherry, & Bill Jr. Schmalzried of Dallas, TX, Frankie Roland of Dallas, TX, Randy Southall, Melissa Oglesby, and many other friends and family. And grateful appreciation to Linda Gail Sanford for her devotion and love to Carter.
