Dorothy Gene Pittman

Mrs. Dorothy Gene (Russell) Pittman, age 85, a resident of Morning Pointe Assisted Living Home in Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mrs. Pittman will be held at noon on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Georgina Bearden officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rock Springs Cemetery. A Nashville, Tennessee native, Mrs. Pittman was the widow of Robert W Pittman. She was the daughter of the late Allen L. Russell and the late Ora Ella (Moore) Russell. In her earlier years, Mrs. Pittman worked with the Metro Government in Nashville, Tennessee. She also enjoyed serving her family as a loving homemaker. In addition to her love for her family, Mrs. Pittman had many varied interests as well throughout the years; but one thing that was consistent was her caring and loving ways. She loved to help people. She truly was a joy to be around. She loved to stay up late and she delighted in teasing people and making them laugh. Her lighthearted attitude and genuine love will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family. Mrs. Pittman left behind to cherish her memory one son, Terry (Susan) Hill of Columbia, TN, three grandsons who were her pride and joy: Nathan, Joseph, and Peter Hill all of Columbia, TN; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Allen Russell, Jr., and Virginia Edwards, and an infant son, Horace Hill, Jr. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jimmy Wells, David Ghee, and James Gordon.
