A native of South Branch, Michigan, he was the son of the late James Aron Burr and the late Iva May Pringle Burr. He was a Korean War Veteran and during his adult life he primarily worked as a tool and die maker for AC Sparkplug.

Mr. Burr was a man who truly enjoyed life. He was dearly devoted to his family as he cherished each of them. When his grandchildren and great grand children came along, he discovered a new joy in life through them. He loved camping and he also had a passion for traveling. It seemed as though there was nothing he could not do. Wood carving, repairing watches and clocks, welding and performing machinist work added to that belief. In addition, he found great enjoyment in collecting remote controlled airplanes and riding motorcycles. With his many various talents and interests, still his top priority and love was always with his family.

In addition to his wife, Jerry left behind to cherish his memory five children: Michael J. Burr of Luzerne, MI, JeriLynn (Gary) Garbarino of Byron, MI, Brenda Kay (Mark) Matthews of Flushing, Mi, Andrea Lee (Chaz) Shabdue of Hampshire, TN, and Ryan Edward (Jamie) Brown of Hampshire, TN; eight grandchildren: Michelle (Mark) Mathis of MI, Dawn (Dean) Shelby of Sparta, TN, Derek Garbarino of Byron, MI, Austin Dale Blade of Hampshire, TN, and Dakota Burr of Flushing, MI, Neeko Lee Shabdue of Hampshire, TN, Dierks Ryan Brown of Hampshire, TN, and Therin Edward Brown of Hampshire, TN; two great grandchildren: Ariel Mathis of CA and Chelsea Selby of Sparta, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Rhea Roy, Maria Flader, and Aleen Tarrant.
