Charles Mason Turner

March 10, 1938 - November 18, 2010

Mr. Charles Mason Turner, husband of Betty Sue (Hay) Turner and a resident of Roy Dodson Road in Columbia, Tennessee, died on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness with his loving family by his side.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Turner will be conducted on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 3:00 p m. at the Sunset Hills Cemetery in the Theta Community with Rev. Eugene Whitaker and Bro. Donald Pruitt officiating. The family will visit with friends from noon until 2:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Warren County, Tennessee, Mr. Turner was the son of the late Leo Turner and the late Lucy (Hendrix) Turner. He was a member of the House of Prayer. Mr. Turner was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He retired from General Electric after years of dedicated service. He was a true family man; a loving husband, father and grandfather. His loving personality was not only displayed to his own family, but to people in general. Mr. Turner never met a stranger. He enjoyed meeting and talking with people from all walks of life. He loved playing his guitar and his wife loved to hear him play, “Wildwood Flower”. He also enjoyed watching God’s creations in nature. Hunting and fishing brought enjoyment to him but nothing compared to his love for reading God’s Word.

In addition to his wife of forty-six years, he left behind to cherish his memory one daughter and one son: Tammy Sue (Donnie) Thompson and Charles Mason Turner II both of Columbia, TN; one grandson, Donnie Dustin Thompson of Columbia, TN; two sisters: Rosie Lee Agent of Bronte, TX and Frankie Butler of Naples, FL; and his faithful companion his dog Pepper.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Cisco.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Hay, Ricky Pruitt, Steven Hood, Michael Walters, Jerry Brady and Donnie Dustin Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Burns, Robert Hood, James Watson, Homer Hutcherson, and the members of the House of Prayer.
