William M Beard

April 12, 1954 - November 20, 2010

Mr. William M. Beard, age 56, a resident of Azalea Drive in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at his residence.

A Graveside Memorial Service for Mr. Beard will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Georgina Bearden officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Mr. Beard was the son of the late Fred J. Beard Sr., and the late Katherine (Owen) Beard. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and also from UT Memphis. In his earlier years, he was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts and always upheld to his love for God and country. For several years he and his brother were co-owners of a local florist in Columbia. There are many interesting things about William that his family recalled. He enjoyed working with the stock market as a self investor, he was an avid reader and his brother said, “He was almost a genius as he had so much knowledge about almost anything you could think of”. But the main thing he really loved to study and read was his Bible. His love and expertise in computers was remarkable as was his memory. Part of the softer side of William was his love for horses, family, and friends. Although a quiet man, you knew that he truly loved and appreciated all the people in his life.

He left to cherish his memory one brother, Jeff (Linda) Beard, Jr.; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He will also be greatly missed by his special friends Lambert and Knoxie Goad.
