Alan Ray Millard, 74, of Edelstein, passed away on May 8, 2024 in Columbia, TN.
Alan was born on June 5,1949 to Leslie R. Millard and Martha V. (Nelson) Millard. Alan was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Alan was a graduate of Princeville High School and Cliff Mann School of Floral Design. Alan went on to own Millard’s Florist, and was a florist for over 50 years.
Alan had many interests including antique cars, genealogy, local history, trains, and traveling to visit his good friends in Switzerland. Alan was a lifelong resident of Edelstein, IL and although he traveled around the world his favorite view was the one provided by sitting on his front porch watching the trains pass by.
Alan will be remembered for his loving spirit, sense of humor, generous soul, adventurous personality, and gregarious nature. He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Lynda) Millard, Stephen (Shannon) Millard of Princeton, IL, numerous nieces and nephews including nephew, Chris (Linda) Millard of Columbia, TN, and his aunt, Dolores White of Edelstein, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Millard and good friend, Art Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday May 24, 2024 at Haskell Funeral in Princeville, IL. A visitation will be held prior at 12:00pm, and burial will follow at Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Speer, IL.
Memorials may be directed to the Princeville Heritage Museum.
