Andrew Buford Moss, age 82, a longtime resident of Theta Pike, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Jeff Williams officiating. Buford will be laid to rest with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps at Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on May 15, 1942, in Pulaski, Tennessee, Buford was the son of the late James Ellis Moss and the late Jimmie Lee Riggins Moss (John) Aday. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He dedicated 32 years of service as an electrician at Union Carbide before retiring in 2000.
Buford was a man of many talents and passions and had a deep love for music, often singing and playing. An all-around athlete, he excelled in various sports throughout his life and coached youth baseball. Known for his infectious humor and kind spirit, he was a friend to all, always ready with a joke and a smile. His unwavering positivity and inspiring nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He was married to the love of his life, Carol Sue Tate Moss, for 60 years until her passing on February 8, 2023.
He is survived by his sons, Buford (Tanyel) Moss, Timothy Lee Moss, Michael (Hailey) Moss, sister, Sue (Jerry) Tate, grandchildren, Adam (Tori) Moss, Seth (Shelsea) Moss, Hannah Moss (Tanner Hallmark), Connor Moss, Tate Moss, Marianna Moss, Destin Moss, Ashton (Will) Batey, Rebecca Rummage, great grandchildren, Journey Moss, Audrey Moss, Kameron Byrd, Ramsey Moss, Landon Byrd, Gracelynn Moss, Amelia Byrd, Baylor Moss, Paxton Moss, Cutler Moss, and one great grandchild, Neyland, on the way.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel “Witsie” Plummer.
Those proudly serving as pallbearers will be Ray Tate, Terry George, Hayden Plummer, Adam Moss, Seth Moss, and Connor Moss. Honorary pallbearers will include Destin Moss, Ricky Plummer, Billy Riggins, Ricky Tate, Jerry Tate, Mike Sullivan, the members of The Shop, and the Bucky’s Lunch Crew.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Maury Regional Medical Center and Hospice Compassus for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Buford’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
