Annie E. Witherspoon

Annie “Ann” Elizabeth Witherspoon was born May 29, 1954 to the union of Solomon and Sarah Witherspoon, who preceded her in death. Ann was educated in the Detroit Public School System, graduating from Pershing High School in 1973 and completing a Legal Track from Wayne County Community College.

Annie worked in the family business of full service gas stations and repair shops. She progressed to work in different Federal Government positions, including the D.E.A. She remained there until her health started to decline.

She professed her love for Jesus Christ and was baptized at Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ronald Turner. She was a devoted member of the Nurses Guild, the Unity Choir, and the Sounds of Peace Choir. She loved to sing and received her peace listening to Gospel music.

Annie departed this life on October 18, 2018 from complications of lung and bone cancer. Ann joins her brothers Walter and Darryl Witherspoon who preceded her in death. Ann leaves to mourn her loving daughter: Erika LaTrese Witherspoon of Lewisburg; grandchildren: Walter, Darryl Joseph, and Sarah Witherspoon, and great grandchildren: Sariyah and Leilani Witherspoon; brothers: Solomon (Patricia) Witherspoon, Jr. of Detroit, MI, David (Sheila) Witherspoon of Columbia, sisters: Gail Sandles of Columbia, Belinda Cook of Stockton, CA; uncle: J. Paul (Doris) Witherspoon of Clarksville; aunts: Ruth Witherspoon of Detroit, MI, Willie P. Shorts of Aurora, CO; six nieces including Ravin (Quon); seven nephews; and her turtle D’Angelo Lockridge; and a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, co-workers, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Michael Polk officiating. The family will also visit with friends on November 3 ^rd from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
