Aubrey Lee "Strut" Davis danced his way into eternity on April 1, 2025, after a life well lived and well loved. Though we will miss him terribly, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Joanne—who has been waiting (patiently or not) for 15 years.
Born on October 5, 1932, with a wrench in one hand and a dance step in the other, Strut was the kind of man who could fix anything—whether it was a car, a bad day, or a lonely dance floor. He and Jo built a beautiful life together, raising four children: Judy Ann, Terry Lee, Danny Joe, and Randy “Yogi” Lynn. His daughter, Judy, followed her mom to heaven shortly after in 2013, undoubtedly saving a spot at the family table along with his infant grandson, Jonathan Barkley Davis, his parents, his infant siblings, and his 11 siblings and their spouses—what a dinner table that must be!
Strut was lucky enough to find love a second time with Ms. Carol South, who stood by his side and filled his days with laughter, NASCAR, baseball, and card games until the very end.
Strut was a legend on the dance floor, never missing a chance to line dance. While Jo may not have let him dance with just anyone, he was lucky to have a few special dance partners, including their dear friend Sharon Barr. Sharon and Steve Barr became more than friends; they became family.
Beyond his love for dancing, Strut was a devoted father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, and mechanic. He had a knack for making people laugh, a heart big enough for everyone, and a legacy that will live on in the stories, laughter, and dance steps of those who knew him.
He leaves behind his three boys: Terry (Annette), Danny (Cheryl Dawn), and Randy “Yogi” (Robyn), along with his cherished grandchildren: Jay, Patrick, MacKenzie, and Storm, his “adopted children” Steve + Sharon Barr, his second love, Carol South, and a multitude of friends and extended family.
This world won’t be the same without him, but it was certainly better with him in it.
Heaven just got a whole lot livelier.
