Audrey Beard Hood

Audrey Beard Hood, age 79, a resident of Pearl, Mississippi, formerly of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, Alabama.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 2:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Adkison Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Audrey was born on January 1, 1943, in Hickman County and was the daughter of the late Edgar Walker Beard and the late Ara Adell Kelley Beard. She was a 1961 graduate of Santa Fe High School and married Robert Carroll Hood on February 12, 1966; he preceded her in death on October 20, 2012. She worked many years as a sales associate at Wal-Mart before retiring in 2014. She was an outstanding sketch artist and had most recently taken up painting. Very musically inclined, Audrey taught herself to play the autoharp and over the years, used her beautiful singing voice to witness to others about Jesus through gospel revivals. She was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church and most recently a member of Exchange Church in Pearl, Mississippi.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Carroll (Karen) Hood of Columbia, TN, Charles Allen (Nikki) Hood of Pearl, MS, brothers, Michael (Patricia) Beard of Columbia, TN, Billy (Emily) Beard of Columbia, TN, sisters, Edith (L.G.) White of Columbia, TN, Willie Mae Goodman of Santa Fe, TN, grandchildren, Christopher (Caroline) Hood, Pierce (Victoria Birman) Hood, Cory Hood, Cameron Reeves, Gabriel Reeves, Heather (Bobby) McMillan, Cody Bolton, Cameron Hanvy, and great grandchildren, Cora Renee Hood, Hayden Bolton, Alyssa Potts, and Ava McMillan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Beard, James Walker Beard, and brother in law, Freddie Goodman.

Pallbearers will be Landon White, Cody Goodman, James Myers, Kevin Beard, Nathan Myers, Trent Hanes, Lee Richards, Matthew Beard, Troy Hood, Brad Amstutz, and Kevin Beard.
