Barbrie Ree Webb Gowan

Barbrie Ree Webb Gowan, age 86, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Poplar Estates Senior Living.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Thomas Duncan officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 11, 1938, in Maury County, Tennessee, Barbrie was the daughter of the late Jesse LyFate Webb and Ruby Bell Scribner Webb. She married John William “Billy” Gowan on June 2, 1958, who preceded her in death in November 2022. A devout Christian, Barbrie was a longtime member of Highland Church of Christ. She found great joy in reading her Bible, tending to her flowers, and traveling. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth William (Debra) Gowan, daughter, Lisa Kay Gowan (Troy) Maupin, grandchildren, Kendall Gowan, Brandon Gowan, Chase Maupin, Jared Maupin, one great grandchild, Kylie Matthew, sister, Edna Beula Webb Waters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Byse Webb, J.B. Webb, Mildred Louise Webb Minor, and Florence Ruth Webb Pollock.

Pallbearers will be Troy Maupin, Chase Maupin, Jared Maupin, Brandon Gowan, Nelson Webb, and Steve Webb.
