Bessie Jane Ruark

Bessie Jane Ruark, age 86, resident of Culleoka, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Country Cottage Lawrenceburg. Bessie, best known as “Janie” was born in Wayne County, Michigan on April 22, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Leon L. Kinsey and Bertha Viola Kinsey.

Janie was married to the love of her life, James Aldon Ruark, for 56 years and was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and she was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed going to the American Legion. Some of her other hobbies included cooking, camping, and dancing on the weekends. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Bryan (Cindy) Ruark of Culleoka; daughters, Phyllis Pollard and Connie Scoggins; sister, Ella Harris; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee Kinsey, Gilbert Kinsey, and Lloyd Kinsey; and her sisters, Pauline Ruark, Kathleen Brayman, and Ilene Delp.
