Betty Collins

Betty C. Collins, age 84, a resident of College Grove, previously of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on June 16, 1935 in Maury County, Betty was the daughter of the late Clarence Langley and the late Elise Overton Langley Yancey. She worked several years for Durango Boot Company and Weather Tamer but most recently cleaned houses for many years. She enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and flowers and made an excellent coconut cake. Above all, Betty loved her family dearly and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Poteete of College Grove; sisters, Kathy Watkins of Columbia and Joanne Drake of Rally Hill; granddaughter, Melissa Johnson of College Grove; great grandson, Curtis Beard; great great grandson, Mason Beard; special friend, Amy Rich & family; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Collins and brother, Jimmy Langley.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Floyd, Brandon Watkins, Mark Goetz, David Thomas, Albert Rich and Casey Floyd.
