Betty J. Rochelle

Betty J. Rochelle, age 77, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Clay Gentry of Jackson Heights Church of Christ officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 18, 1945, in Giles County, Tennessee, Betty was the daughter of the late Ollie Thomas Hickman and the late Annie Mildred Hayes Hickman and was married to Howard Rochelle, Jr. who preceded her in death. Betty worked at Midsouth Christian Nursing Home in Memphis for nine years which sparked her love for helping other and caring for people. She loved her flowers and going to flea markets and yard sales. Betty was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ in Columbia.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Scott Spivy of Alabama, siblings, Annie Joyce Thomas of Lyles, TN, Bobby Dwain Hickman of Lynnville, TN, Thomas Hayes (Rebecca) Hickman of Lynnville, TN, Linda Sue (Don) Barlar of Lynnville, TN, Shirley (Jerry) Aymett of Lynnville, TN, Barbara Ann (Ronnie) Habel of Harvest, AL, Judy (Gene) West of Cartersville, GA, Sabrina Lynn (David) McNichols of Brownsville, KY, grandchildren, Heather Jett, Chris Spivy, Jesse Spivy, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, April Dawn Spivy and Timothy Alexander Spivy, and sister, Dorothy Faye Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hickman, Montana Hickman, Harvy Spivy, Lauris Gillespie, Hunter Gillespie, and Kevin Spiller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Betty to Jackson Heights Church of Christ, 1200 Nashville Highway, Columbia, TN 38401.
