Bettye Jane Staggs

August 30, 1948 — September 4, 2021

Mrs. Bettye Jane Staggs, age 73, wife of Dewey Lee Staggs, and a resident of Columbia, went to her eternal home on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Chapel Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Lawrence County with Phil Patton officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 30,1948, in Lawrenceburg, Jane was the daughter of the late Raymond Lee Patton and the late L. June Rawdon Patton. She was a 1966 graduate of Summertown High School and a homemaker. She married Dewey Lee Staggs on December 26, 1966, and had two sons, Anthony “Tony” Joel Staggs and David Lee Staggs. She enjoyed planting, cooking, and reading- especially her Bible. There were always notes of encouragement and scripture posted around her house.

In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by her sister, Ruth Carolyn Blake, sister in law, Reba Patton, brother in law, Bill Giles, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lyndia Faye Giles, brother, Dwight Lee Patton, niece, Misty Massey, and nephews, Jeff Giles, Tory Blake, and Seth Daniel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Fisher Pharmacy & Gifts and the staff at Lori James office.
