Billy Eugene Haynes

Billy Eugene Haynes, age 85, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday evening, August 17, 2023, at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 8:30 – 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 3, 1937, and raised in Water Valley, Billy was the son of the late Ben Haynes and the late Bessie Brady Haynes. He was a 1955 graduate of Santa Fe High School and married Betty Haynes on October 15, 1959; she preceded him in death on July 26, 2023. He worked many years for Conalco/Consolidated Aluminum and later worked for General Electric before retiring. He loved listening to traditional country music and was an avid Tennessee Titans and Nascar fan. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Haynes of Paris, TN, nephew, Benjamin (Cheryl) Morrison, great niece, Leslie Hatcher, and great nephew, Joel Morrison.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas “Tommy” Earl Haynes, David Wayne Haynes, and siblings, Ruth Morrison and Tom Haynes.
