Billy Dean Huckaby, age 76, husband of Debbie L. Huckaby and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Maury Memorial Gardens with Randy Owens and Dr. Alex Goodman officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 3, 1946, in Columbia, Tennessee, Billy was the son of the late L.C. Huckaby and the late Rachel Ring Huckaby. At the age of nineteen, he began working at Union Carbide as an electrician and worked there until he retired in 1998. He married Debbie on November 23,1989. He attended Gulf Coast Church of Christ in Fort Myers, Florida and Colbert County Church of Christ in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. His greatest hobby was boating on his pontoon, whether at the lake or on the Gulf Coast. He loved having a good time with the “Wilson Lake Gang,” playing cards and corn hole. Billy also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and tending to his rose bushes. He was a NASCAR fan and in his spare time, enjoyed working on cars. Above all, Billy loved his family, especially his grandsons. Those who knew him, knew his love for his favorite song “ Old Time Rock & Roll ” by Bob Seger.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Angela Huckaby (Mike) Thompson of Nolensville, TN, Nicole Potts (Joey) Houser of Columbia, TN; brother, Dale (Margie) Huckaby of Columbia, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene Howard, Pat (Dale) Crews, Johnny (Lesa) Littrell, Pam (Rick) McElroy, Mike Littrell; grandsons, Seth William Thompson, Knox Michael Thompson, Huck Edward Houser, Myer Emory Houser; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Caleb Michael Thompson, and brothers, Lynn Calvin Huckaby and Curtis Wayne Huckaby.
Pallbearers will be Dale Crews, James Kelley, Johnny Littrell, Mike Littrell, Rick McElroy, and Larry Rummage.
