Bud Duncan

Mr. Willard Randolph “Bud” Duncan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 81, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 3, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Long Beach, California, Bud was the son of the late Floyd Randolph Duncan and the late Wilma Kirkpatrick Duncan. He was a 1958 graduate of Cal Poly High School where he was a renowned athlete and played baseball, basketball, and football. He later went on to play semi-professional baseball. Bud married Sharon Ruth Lyon on February 3, 1962, in Long Beach, California, and together they had two children. They later moved to Montana where he owned Trapper Manufacturing, a camper and motor home production company. Numerous years later, they moved back to California where he earned his law degree from Simon Greenleaf School of Law. In 1994, the family moved to Tennessee where he was the owner and operator with Colonial Trucking for many years. Bud most recently worked at Kroger in Thompsons Station for eleven years.

Bud was a devoted Christian. He previously served as a youth director, and while living in Montana, started a church. He and his wife have spent their most recent years attending Grace Church of the Nazarene in Columbia, Tennessee where he was actively involved in Bible study prayer group and The People’s Table Food Bank.

He enjoyed hunting, riding horses, and was an avid golfer. Bud was a sports fanatic, an avid football fan. He enjoyed watching Vanderbilt and was a faithful and dedicated Los Angeles Chargers football fan. He had an exceptional sense of humor and loved his many dogs. Above all, Bud loved his friends, and his greatest passion was his family.

Bud and Sharon enjoyed years of dancing together and taught country western line dance, two step and West Coast swing in Orange County, California. The family was known affectionately in the area as the “Dancing Duncans.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shawn Duncan of Columbia, TN, son, Troy Randolph (Ileana) Duncan of Oldsmar, FL, and grandchildren, Shea Antonucci, Connor Duncan, Brooks Duncan, and Colt Duncan.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd “Sonny” Duncan and Larry Duncan.

The family will celebrate his life with a memorial service at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
