Carlton “Rocky” Baker, age 52, husband of Charity Baker, and a resident of New Highway 7 in Columbia, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at his residence, after a nine-year long courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Allen Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a Masonic service beginning at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rocky was born on January 11, 1969, in Williamson County and was the son of Charles Baker and the late Ruby Mae Chapman Baker. He married Charity Leake on August 6, 1994. He worked for the Wastewater Department for the City of Columbia from 1989 until he retired in November of 2019. He was a member of the Masonic Benton Lodge #111 in Santa Fe and recently became a Scottish Rite.
Whether he was riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, rabbit hunting, or spending time on the lake, Rocky enjoyed being outdoors. He cherished the times that he spent going out to eat with his family. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children, Kanya (Tyler) Crain of Columbia, Breanna (Dusty) Dawes of Culleoka, CJ Baker of Columbia, Tate Crain of Columbia, brothers, Clarence (Pat) Baker of Culleoka, Curtis (Lori) Baker of Columbia, sister, Freda (Gene) Bassham of Lawrenceburg, grandchildren, Mason Crain, Brylee Dawes, Braxton Dawes, Brynlee Dawes, Jaxon Crain, mother in law, Kathy Emler, sister in law, Jessica (Chris) Bell of Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Baker.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Baker, Eric Baker, Brandon Baker, Ethan Baker, Chris Bell, Jeff Hardison, Tate Crain, and James Daws. Honorary pallbearers will include Rocky’s brothers at the Masonic Benton Lodge #111 in Santa Fe.
