Mrs. Carol Faye Walters, age 77, wife of Jerry Walters, and a resident of Knob Creek Road, passed away Monday morning, March 18, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery, adjacent to the family farm. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carol was born on January 25, 1942 in Maury County and was the daughter of the late John Elwood Davis and the late Frances Mayberry Davis. She lived in the Knob Creek Community since 1951. She was of the Columbia Central High School Class of 1960. Carol married Jerry A. Walters on June 8, 1958 in the Knob Creek Baptist Church. Their life began raising their two sons, Sammy and Michael on their farm. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years. Carol always welcomed everyone into their home with laughter and generosity. She was a kind and loving individual with a willing heart, always thinking of others. She loved music during her entire life. Her grand piano had a prominent place in their home.
Carol was a well-known real estate broker for over 20 years, and by her virtue, her enthusiasm, and her willingness to help the public, she became a recipient of numerous awards in real estate.
Carol was a member of two genealogical organizations: The Jane Knox Polk Daughters of the American Revolution and Capt. James Madison Sparkman 2363 Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy. Carol was a member of the reunion committee for the Class of 1960 at Columbia Central High School.
Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry A. Walters of Columbia; son, Sammy Wyatt (Tammy) Walters of Columbia; daughter-in-law: Dana Atkins Walters of Columbia; grandchildren: Ryan Thomas Walters, Kaitlyn Faith Walters, Jonathan Michael Walters, Blake Atkins Walters; sister: Barbara (Charles) Keltner of Columbia; sister-in-law: Sonja Kay Davis of Columbia; nephew: Deric William Keltner; nieces: Kimberly Keltner (Phillip) Pullen, Monica Davis (Scott) Elias, Johnifer Davis (Chris) Hicks; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Michael Carroll Walters on March 27, 2016, and brother: John L. Davis on January 28, 2017.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ryan Thomas Walters, Jonathan Michael Walters, Blake Atkins Walters; her cousins: Tommy Ray Mayberry, Stanley Mahon, Gary Tom Harris; and her nephew: Deric William Keltner.
Columbia Central High School Class of 1960 and the members of Knob Creek Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
