Carrie Walker, age 90, resident of Columbia, passed away Monday October 29th at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10- 11 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 16, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, Carrie was the daughter of the late Raymond Powell and the late Pearl Long Hill. Mrs. Walker graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit MI. She was one of the founding members of EL Bethel Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. E.L. Moore. She was an Administrative Bookkeeper for one of local unions in Detroit Mich. Also, Mrs. Walker was a devout member of the Eastern Stars and the Daughters of Isis.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Edward Walker, Sr.; sister: Bertha Lawrence; and brother: Tyrone Powell.
She is survived by her sons: Edward (Geneva) Walker, Jr. of Loxahatchee, FL, Emmanuel H (Antoinette) Walker of Detroit, MI, Joseph D Walker of Bay City, MI, Ernest G (Michelle) Walker of Spring Hill, TN; and grandchildren: Rodney Walker, Earnestine (Nicholas) Norman, Emmanuel H (LaTasha) Walker II, Bianca Walker, Joseph Walker II, Alexander Walker, Chandra McCullough, Ernest Walker II, Neah Walker, Deus Duke. First Cousins Charlie (Dorothy) Walker II, Cher (Misa) Brown and Camila Brown and a host of great grandchildren, friends and well wishers.
Pallbearers will be: Edward Walker, Jr., Emmanuel Herbert Walker, Joseph Walker, Ernest Walker, Rodney Walker and Deus Duke.
