Charles Van Shively, Sr.

Mr. Charles Van Shively, Sr. age 67, a resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 surrounded by his family and beloved labs, Annabelle and Scout.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 5PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Eric Von Kaenel officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 4-8PM and again on Saturday from 4-5PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 6, 1952 in Nashville, Van was the son of the late Charles Edward Shively and the late Alma June Vandiver Shively. He was a 1970 graduate of Cheatham County High School. A self made entrepreneur, Van was the owner of Lewisburg Rubber & Gasket, a Parker Hannifin Distributor, and Mid-TN Hose and Hydraulics in Dickson. He was an avid Tennessee Titans fan and an original PSL ticket owner. He was a grill master who would barbeque anything from hot dogs to whole hogs and everything in between. Van loved traveling the world, especially the Caribbean, going on cruises, and deep sea fishing. A true servant’s heart, he was an extremely giving person who loved his family more than anything and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Winters Shively of Columbia; sons: Van (Heather) Shively, Jr. of Chapel Hill, Sean Shively of Dickson, James Shively of Nashville; daughter, Christina (Cameron) McCanless of Columbia; daughter in law, Jennifer Farthing Shively of Dickson; brother, Leslie Shively of Sacramento, CA; sister, Pamela (Danny) Williams of White Bluff; and grandchildren: Kai Shively, Grace Shively, Jack Shively, and Charlie McCanless.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Shively.

Pallbearers will be: Kai Shively, Jack Shively, Shane Vandivort, Bud Martin, Dewey Swims, Daniel McFadden, Jacob Winters, and Chance Williams. Honorary pallbearers will include: Charlie McCanless and the Employees of Lewisburg Rubber & Gasket and Mid-TN Hose and Hydraulics.
