Charles Edward Vaughn, age 88, of Thompsons Station, formerly long time resident of Maury County, TN, passed away peacefully at Morning Pointe of Spring Hill on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, January 25 th at 2:00PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Gregory Daimwood officiating. A private burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 12 noon until the 2pm service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was retired from E.I.Dupont in Columbia and was the owner and operator of Vaughn Auto Sales in Glendale before his retirement in 1994. He was the husband of Jean Watson Vaughn whom he married on March 1, 1952. He was the eldest son of Mark Adwin and Flora Eddlemon Vaughn. After retirement he pursued the restoration of antique automobiles. He was the recipient of the prestigious Antique Automobile Club of America’s Senior Award twice. He also received Best of Show from Point Mallard, Centerville and Columbia shows. He was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ, Antique Auto Club of America and longtime member of Marshall County Car Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Watson Vaughn, two daughters, Victoria (Vicki) Vaughn Sweeney and husband, Sam P. Sweeney and Susan V. Vaughn; three granddaughters, Bethany Smith (Matt) Hawkins, Vaughn Sweeney (Keith) Cockrum, and Samantha Brooke Sweeney; four great grandchildren, Jakob Samuel Cockrum, Cooper Olivia Cockrum, Liam Charles Cockrum and Madeline Ryane Hawkins; and two step grandchildren, Carly Cockrum and Grey Hawkins; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister in law, Paul Perry and Joan Phillips Vaughn, his brothers in law, Jim Watson, Charles Watson and Monie Joe Funck,

Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Columbia E, I., DuPont Co. Members of Ephesus Church of Christ, Members of Marshall County Car Club and former neighbors.

A special thank you is given to the caring “angels” in the Lantern at Morning Point at Spring Hill and to the staff at Compassus Hospice.

In lieu of floral arrangements donations are requested to Maury County Animal Society, 1233 Mapleash Ave. Columbia, TN 38401.
