Charles William "Bill" Mclain

June 25, 1947 — March 30, 2020

Mr. Charles William “Bill” McLain, age 72, husband of Connie McLain, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday morning, March 30, 2020 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living.

A private graveside service will be held at Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on June 25, 1947 in Marshall County, Bill was the son of the late Charles Hoyte McLain and the late Lillian Beard McLain Braden. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Connie Slagle on September 2, 1972 and together they had two children. Bill worked at Duck River Electric as a lineman and serviceman before being named district operations supervisor. He retired in February of 2008 after thirty-six years. Bill was a TSSAA football official for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time on the Tennessee River.

In addition to his wife, Connie, of forty-seven years, he is survived by his children: Jeff (Sandy) McLain of Columbia, Jennifer (William) Jones of Williamsport; sister, Alice (Glen) White of Lewisburg; grandchildren: Jake (Kelly) Riggins, Brittany Riggins, Hallie McLain, Dylan McLain; and great grandchild, Isabella Hartman.
