Christopher Lynn Gaines, age 56, and his wife, Katrina Yvonne Sowell Gaines, age 51, residents of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away tragically on Monday, April 18, 2022, at their residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. They will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Sunday, May 1 st from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Christopher was born on January 22, 1966, in Maury County, Tennessee and was the son of Jacola Harriett Bone Gaines and the late Harold Wainwright. He was a 1984 graduate of Columbia Central High School and worked many years as a Pharmacy Technician for Network Healthcare Pharmacy in Franklin. He was a member of Wayman Chapel AME Church where he served as a Steward. Christopher enjoyed singing and was an excellent cook and grill master. He loved sports, especially football and was an avid Tennessee Titans and Vols fan.

Katrina was born on March 17, 1971, in Maury County and was the daughter of Gertha Hardison Sowell and the late Orell Sowell. She was a 1989 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned her associate degree from Columbia State Community College. She worked many years as a master confectionist in the bakery at Walmart in Franklin. She was a member of New Zion Original Church of God. She was an excellent cook and baker who made many delicious wedding cakes, cupcakes, and other treats. Katrina loved singing, dancing and watching her grandchildren.

Christopher and Katrina were married on November 12, 1994 and together they had four sons and seven grandchildren. They each had a very special love for their beloved dog, Sable. They leave behind to cherish their memories their children Christeon (Jessica) Owens of Spring Hill, Krishon Gaines of Columbia, Donavon (Nichol) Gaines of Columbia, Demondra Gaines of Columbia; grandchildren, Dawn Gaines, Skylar Gaines, Paris Gaines, Kha’re Gaines, Kameron Gaines, Jordyn Owens, Cameron Owens, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Christopher is also survived by his brothers, Scott (Ann) Gaines of Mt. Pleasant, Michael (Tina) Gaines of Mt. Pleasant, Jonathon (Leslie) Gaines of Columbia, and sister in law, Cheryl Gaines. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gregory Gaines, Ronald Gaines, and sister in law, Carlotta Gaines.

In addition to her mother, Katrina is also survived by her brothers, Lamont Sowell of Columbia, Fabian (Alexus) Sowell of Atlanta, GA, and sister, Kim (Wayman) Manson of Nashville.

Those serving as pallbearers for Christopher will be James Wilkes, Mecco Dooley, Rev. Rufus Crawford, Nathaniel Harlan, Rev. Jerome Williams, Roy Goodman, Charles Acklin, and Eric Lacy.

Those serving as pallbearers for Katrina will be John Alexander, Willie Nelson, Joe Scribner, Elder William Carter, Bro. Steve Bennett, Bro. Tyrone Whittaker, Don Dooley, and Tre Tate.

Honorary pallbearers will include the Sons of Allen at Wayman Chapel AME Church, Michael Williams, and Brandon Murphy.
