Cynthia Webster

Cynthia Rose Matthews Webster, age 50, wife of John Derrick Webster, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday evening, August 13, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Don Webster officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 11, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, Cynthia was the daughter of Judy Mae Bryson Matthews and the late Larry Thomas Matthews and the late Marvin Wayne “Goldie” Anderson. She worked many years for the YMCA in childcare and after school care and later worked as a surgery technician for Maury Regional Medical Center. She married John Derrick Webster on June 7, 2006, but they were together a total of twenty-eight years. She enjoyed going to the river, fishing, and walking. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandson, Raashid. She attended Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her daughter, Tyesha Webster of Columbia, sister, Juanita Matthews of Columbia, brother-in-law, Wendell “Big Man” Turrentine of Columbia, sister, Julie Matthews (Jay) Bragdon of Lewisburg, grandson, Raashid Webster, brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane, Regina, Reginald, Connie, Ron, Don, and Anthony Webster, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Along with her father and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard & Sarah Bryson, and mother and father-in-law, Stockard Lee & Addie Mae Webster.

Pallbearers will be Tige Kennedy, Sr., Tige Kennedy, Jr., Tige Kennedy, III, Wendell “Big Man” Turrentine, Zachary Music, and Jay Bragdon.
