Dannie Leroy Spaulding, age 75, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Maurice Hollingsworth and Brother Bob Vasser officiating. Burial will be at Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
Born on November 14, 1946, Dannie was the son of the late Clyde Spaulding and Eva Toney Spaulding. Dannie proudly served his county in the Vietnam War, where he was exposed to Agent Orange. He retired from General Motors after 35 years’ service. After his retirement, he enjoyed frequent trips to Biloxi, Mississippi with his beautiful wife, Patricia Spaulding. He also played bass and rhythm guitar in a band and enjoyed watching war movies. Later in life, he joined a bowling league. Dannie was an active member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, where he loved fellowship with his Sunday School class.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Nutt of Columbia, son, Eric Spaulding of Columbia, brother, Gary (Barbara) Spaulding, and grandchildren, Ryan Nutt, Jade Spaulding, MaKenna Spaulding, Destin Nutt and Kaia Nutt.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Spaulding and brother, Dean Spaulding.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
