Mrs. Darleina Kay Blocker, age 60, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 12PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Robert Palmer officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 3PM EST at Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, Kentucky. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 23, 1959 in Covington, Kentucky, Darleina was the daughter of the late Herbert Houze and the late Janet Louden Nobel. She was a 1977 graduate of Conner High School in Hebron, Kentucky. She worked seventeen years at the Hampton Inn in Columbia, Tennessee, most recently serving as the manager for thirteen years. She married Alvin Blocker on January 5, 2001. Darleina enjoyed baking and reading, and she especially loved her grandchildren and beloved dogs, Lily and Gizmo. She was a member of Petersburg Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving daughter, Heather (Michael McKnight) Abdon of Columbia, TN; step daughters: Miranda Harmon of Columbia, TN, Virginia (Josh) Jones of Hattiesburg, MS; brothers: Ronnie (Angie) Houze, Dwayne Houze, Glenn (Jennifer) Louden; grandchildren: Mikey Abdon, Isabella McKnight, Russell Thompson, Riley Thompson, Reagan Harmon, Ryan Harmon, Kaylee Jones, Tyler Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Jeff Houze, Michael Wayne Houze; nephew, Justin Houze; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be: Glenn Kelly Louden, Steve Louden, Dallas Louden, Vince Tran, Chris Houze, and Kyle Houze.
