Darrel Baker

Mr. Darrel Baker, age 64, a resident of Columbia, most recently of Waverly, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, February 9 ^th at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 13 ^th at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Mike Harris officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12 ^th from 4-7PM at Heritage Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 ^th from 4-6PM with a Masonic Service beginning at 6PM at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 15 ^th at 11AM at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in McEwen. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 25, 1954 in Dickson, Tennessee, Darrel was the son of Billy & Marie Baker and the late June Pruitt. He was a 1972 graduate of Columbia Central High School. He worked his entire career as an electrician and was owner and operator of Darrel Baker Electric in Columbia. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved deer hunting. He served as a Mason for the George Hillman Lodge #431 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. A great sense of humor, Darrel was kind hearted, fun to be around and always smiling. He had a special love for his children and grandchildren and a love and devotion for his parents.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son: Brad Baker of Waverly; daughter: Lindy (Terry) Watkins of Waverly; brother: Bobby Allen of Waverly; grandchildren: Blaine Baker, Savannah Baker, Elizabeth Baker, and Ellie Watkins; and the mother of his children: Kathy Ashton of Lynnville.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Baker.

Pallbearers will be: Randall Scott, Mike Dawson, Fred Gillham, Jr., Ray Howell, Billy Morton, Garry Best, Dennis Posey, Blaine Baker, and Brad Baker. Honorary pallbearers will include: Bobby Allen, Larry Peach, Tony Beyer, James Ashton, and James Mills.
