Darryl "Winnie" Lynn Hay

Darryl Lynn “Winnie” Hay, age 62, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brian Adkisson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 25, 1961, in Columbia, Winnie was the son of the late Howard Wesley Hay, Sr. and the late Mildred Chapman Hay. He attended Hampshire School and worked many years in construction, most recently for W & O Construction. He loved working on cars and always had a project. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially The Blues Brothers. Above all, he loved his family and would do anything for them. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Steven Lynn Hay of Columbia, sisters, Sheila Hay (Wayne) Martin of Santa Fe, Tammy Hay (Gary) Pruitt of Hampshire, Carolyn Walker of Murfreesboro, Elaine (Vic Morelles) Hay of Pegram, sister in law, Phyllis Hay of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Eathen Lynn Hay, Alisia Gabriell “Gabby” Hay, Leah Nicole Hay, great grandchild, River Blake Dye, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike Hay, Gary Hay, and Howard Wesley Hay, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Sheila Martin, Tammy Pruitt, Wayne Martin, Gary Pruitt, Cheyenne Martin, Steven Fleming, and Joey Hay.
