David E. Ray, Sr.

David Earl Ray Sr., age 61, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday morning, April 14, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

The family will celebrate his life with a memorial service at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on October 20, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan, David was the son of the late Charles and Ethel Ray. He earned an Associates Degree in Business, worked many years in construction, was a former forklift driver for Ryder, and ran D&P Property Management. He enjoyed flowers and gardening and was an excellent pool player. David loved to travel and had a special love for his German Shepherds, Bo and Reba.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his fiancé, Patricia Brown; children: Tyesha, David and Sophy; grandchild, Corde; brothers: Charles David III, Harvey Lewis, Anthony Duane, Antonio DeJuan; sisters: Linda Diane Taylor, Nafeesa “Tirtsah” Ceesay, Sandra Tunstall, Cynthia Jean, Valerie Ramona (Richard) Bryant, Josette Elizebeth; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kyra; sister, Monica; nephew, Ralph Austin, Jr.; and brother in law, Jim Taylor.
