Mr. David Roe Sharpton, age 64, husband of Kim Barnes Sharpton, and a resident of Culleoka, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. E. Thomas Vann officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 6 th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 29, 1956 in Davidson County, David was the son of the late William E. Sharpton and the late Mildred Stanfill Sharpton. He was a 1974 graduate of Columbia Central High School where he played football. He married Kimberly Barnes on December 5, 1998. He was the former owner of Maury Auto Supply and most recently worked in sales at TriGreen Equipment. David loved fishing, hunting, and working in his shop. He was an avid Nascar fan and also enjoyed the Tennessee Vols and Titans. He was a member of the Masons and of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife, Kim, of 21 years, he is survived by his sons: Grant Sharpton of Georgia, Will Sharpton of Florida; brother, Al Sharpton of Georgia; sister, Janice Elliott of Murfreesboro; brothers and sisters in law: Dale (Dorris) Barnes of Goodlettsville, Ron Barnes of Williamsport, Mike (Duane) Barnes of Santa Fe, Vickie Barnes Steward of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Madison and Tinsley Sharpton; nieces and nephews: Julie Elliott, Brian Elliott, Clay Barnes, Will Steward, Candi Nelson; special cousin, Mike (Bettye) Sharpton; and God children: Cody Johnson, Jeanie Dawn Tucker, Maggie Sullivan, J.T. Caskey and Paisley Sweeney.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his special friend, Jimmy Long.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Mike & Debbie Boehms, Grant Sharpton, Mike Sharpton, Mark Amis, Steve “Bear” Stanfill, Pam Long, Linnea Brewer, Kelley Grooms Hubbell, Don Ferguson, Mark Cook, Tommy Long, Patrick Pangle, Billy Graham, Pamela Stovall, Tammy Johnson, Jeff & Janice Flannagan, Jake Hubbell, Larry Hubbell, his co-workers at TriGreen Equipment, Wilbur & Dr. Karen Davis, Jim & Terri Baker, and Troy Majors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
