David K. Shipley a long time resident of Franklin, TN passed from this life into the loving arms of his Savior, Sunday, February 14, 2021, while staying with friends in Spring Hill, TN.

A memorial service will be held at The Gate Church, 4040 Murfreesboro Rd, Franklin, TN, 37167, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gate Church at www.thegate.cc .  Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Born June 9, 1947 in Peru, IN to Charles Edwin and Madilyn Comerford Shipley. David grew up in Peru, IN, Dayton, OH and St. Petersburg, FL. David attended Grace Bible College of Winona Lake, IN and Florida Bible College in Miami where music and spreading the good news of the Gospel through music became a passion. He was a member of The Spokesman, a Christian contemporary folk group as backup singer and guitarist. David had an entrepreneurial spirit. His career in music spanned 50 plus years, involved in every aspect of music as a writer, composer, singer, musician and as an engineer. He owned and operated Foxwood Mastering Studios in Franklin, TN. and is a member of the Gate Church.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Naoma Bird Shipley, a son Napoleon Wainwright of Woodbury, TN, preceded in death by a daughter Gretchen (Wainwright) Reinen of Columbia,TN, a son-in-law Kevin Reinen and his wife Dianne of Nashville TN, a grandson Jameon Wolfgang Wainwright of Woodbury, TN, and 3 great granddaughters (Sophia, Khandyce and Penelopye Wainwight) of Woodbury, TN. Brothers Stephen Shipley and his wife Hally and Gregory Shipley all of Fort Meyers, FL and several nieces and nephews.
