Dolores Socarras

Dolores Socarras, age 88, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2020 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 10AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Deacon Ray Seibold officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Resurrection in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 3-7PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 28, 1931 in Cuba, Dolores was the daughter of the late Jose Negrin and the late Dolores Gonzalez. She married Amable Socarras on February 8, 1958; he preceded her in death on August 27, 1990. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and doing crafts. She was the matriarch of her family and especially loved cooking for her grandchildren. Dolores was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her daughters: Ana (Daniel) Pena of Columbia, Maria (Sergio) Bermudez of Columbia; brothers: Carlos (Elena) Negrin, Armando Negrin; grandchildren: Daniel (Angela) Pena, David (Lori) Pena, Sergio (Liz) Bermudez, III, Alexander (Ashlea) Bermudez, Jennifer Bermudez; great grandchildren: Gabriel Pena, Samuel Pena, Becky Boyd, Adylin Pena, Isabell Bermudez, Sergio Bermudez, IV, Mila Bermudez, Dayton Gandee, Bryson Gandee, Michael Harmon and Lily Stutts; and great great grandchild: Landon Harmon and Rebecca Boyd.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be: Sergio Bermudez, III, Daniel Pena, David Pena, Alexander Bermudez, Michael Harmon, Pepi Blanco and Wilson Ishoo.
