Doris Hill Reighley, age 94, a resident of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on March 29, 2024, at Belvedere Commons of Franklin.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Harry Lee Smith and Mable Claire (Hill) Smith, her sister India Claire (Smith) Jones, and her husband Dennis Darwin Reighley.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Amy (Reighley) Recker; her two grandchildren, Ian Keeter and Cynthia (Recker) Chalmers, and Cynthia’s husband Adam.
Doris was a dedicated Christian, loving wife, and caring mother. Born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee, Doris moved to California as an adult to work for the Hughes Aircraft Company. Doris met her husband Dennis on a blind date and were married on Dec. 22, 1962, in Buena Park, California. Their daughter Amy was born two years later in 1964.
Dennis started a career with Equifax and the family relocated back to Franklin in 1972 as he began working as a claim’s investigator. Doris established Reighley Enterprises, a company that sold and distributed Shaklee health products. The company has been successful operated by the family for over 40 years, her daughter Amy having taken the reins in recent years. Doris was also involved in several marketing and business networking groups.
Doris and Dennis attended Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ for 42 years. They were always active in the congregation’s activities and outreach programs, always going above and beyond the call of duty with their generosity.
Doris is remembered as a kind and loving woman; her abundance of personality being only overshadowed by her generosity and hospitality. She loved to open her home to guests, and she was more than happy to prepare a wonderful meal.
The Reighley family would also like to extend a warm thank you to Belvedere Commons of Franklin and the staff members who lovingly cared for both Dennis and Doris during their final days.
A public celebration of life and visitation will be held on April 13 from 12pm to 3pm at the Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ, 1777 South Berry’s Chapel Road, Franklin, TN 37069.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that monetary donations be sent to Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ (www.berryschapel.org, 615-791-1316)
