Douglas J. Lee, age 64, a lifelong resident of Maury County, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his home in Columbia surrounded by his family.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Lee have been rescheduled. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Allan Lancaster and Eddie Ables officiating. Burial will follow in Haynes Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Doug was born August 30, 1956 in Maury County and was the son of the late Ed Lee and the late Frances Ogle Lee. He attended school in Culleoka and retired from the City of Columbia Street Department. He was a well-respected member of his community and attended Church of Christ. Doug was the type of gentleman that would do anything for anyone and give the shirt off his back to a stranger if he were in need. He was described as everyone’s Rock. Some of his hobbies included fishing and auctioneering. He loved antiques and went to all the auctions with his seat being #13. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 24 years: Vickey Gibson Lee of Columbia; children: Daphine Lee (fiancé Terry Bridges) of Ethridge, Clinton (Elizabeth) Lee of Mt. Pleasant, Shannon Gibson of Columbia, and Dena Sessa of CA; sister: Diane (Ray) Messick of Columbia; brother: David Lee of Columbia; grandchildren: Matthew (Kim) Simmons, Caleb (Hannah) Simmons, Lontez Gibson, Kieonna Donald, Anthony Sessa, and Alivia Sessa; great grandchildren: Justus, Bentley, Trooper, Ryder, and Liberty Simmons, Zaevien and L’Taevien Gibson; and a very special young man: Dalton Walls.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Lee, Bubba Lee, Lontez Gibson, Dalton Walls, Matthew Simmons, and Caleb Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Ables, Rick Violet, Frank Church, and Enoch George.
