Douglas "Doug" M Pilkinton

January 1, 1942 — June 12, 2023

Douglas "Doug" M. Pilkinton, age 81, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at his residence.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Doug was born on January 1, 1942, and was the son of the late Guy Pilkinton and the late Dorothy Toungette Pilkinton. He was a 1960 graduate of Santa Fe School and worked many years for Occidental Chemical Company. He worked over twenty years for Brentwood Lawn Mower before retiring. Doug loved riding motorcycles and did so up until the age of 76. He enjoyed going to races and was known by many as the “Lawn Mower Man.”

He is survived by his son, Casey Pilkinton of Columbia, daughters, Connie (Jim) Poling of Columbia, Cathey (Jeff) Thomason of Santa Fe, brothers, Billy (Betty) Pilkinton of Columbia, Roger (Martha) Pilkinton of Columbia, sisters, Donna Walters of Columbia, Barbara (Stanley) Watson of Franklin, grandchildren, Ryder, Ansli, Addyson, and Sawyer Pilkinton, Derrick (Amanda) Scott, Drew (Amanda) Scott, Teri (Brandon) Burcham, Daniel (Jenny) Thomason, Ben (Kayla) Thomason, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louie Pilkinton and brother-in-law,  Gerald Ray Walters.
