Dwight Wendell Benefield

Dwight Wendell Benefield, age 84, resident of Leoma, passed away on May 27, 2023 at NHC Murfreesboro.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Benefield was the son of the late Andy and Agnes Hill Benefield and husband of the late Alean Gladney Benefield, who passed in 2006. He worked as a barber for Drake’s Barbershop in Murfreesboro for 36 years. Mr. Benefield served in the National Guard, was a lifelong member of the NRA and a member of the Moose Lodge. He liked to hunt, work his land, gospel music and collecting.

He is survived by his son: Benjie and wife Robin of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Benefield of Murfreesboro; grandchildren: Matt (Sarah), Blair (Disa), Zach (Chelsea), Tyler (Harlee), Chase (Marissa), Brittany (AJ) and Livia Grace; brothers: Donald and Tommy (Pat) Benefield, both of Ethridge. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by his sons: Brent and James Andy “Butch” Benefield.
