Edna Frances McCoy Hatley

March 19, 1928 - October 21, 2023

Edna Frances McCoy Hatley, age 95, a former long-time resident of Santa Fe and of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Poplar Estates in Columbia.

A funeral service to celebrate Edna's life will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, with Thomas Duncan and Keith Baker officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will be available to receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until the 2:00 pm service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with the funeral arrangements.

Edna was born in Madison County, Tennessee, on March 19, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Albert Hill McCoy and the late Nina Loyd McCoy. Tragically, her mother passed away when she was just 2 years old, and she was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Mealy Loyd. Although Edna briefly worked at Weather Tamer, her true calling and greatest joy in life came from being a dedicated and loving housewife. She found happiness in tending to her flower beds, playing kickball, preparing communion at church, and, most recently, enjoyed the camaraderie of playing Bingo with friends at Poplar Estates. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ.

Edna is survived by her son, Kenny Hatley of Florida; granddaughters, Rhonda (Kenny) Brady of Santa Fe and Yvonne (Nathan) Wardlaw of Spring Hill; as well as great-grandchildren, Derrick (Sarah) Brady of Franklin, Faith (Jason) Lacy of Gainesboro, and Hayden Wardlaw.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Hatley, sister, Annie Pearl McCoy, and brother, Jimmy McCoy.

Family and friends will have the honor of serving as pallbearers, paying their respects to a beloved woman who brought joy to those who knew her.
