Elizabeth Swindle

Mrs. Elizabeth “Mousie” Kelley Swindle, age 72, wife of Jim Swindle, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Stalnaker officiating. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 11AM-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on November 25, 1946 at the King’s Daughters Hospital in Columbia, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Grady Kelley and the late Elver J. Sands Kelley. She was a 1964 graduate of Culleoka School and was a member of Community Baptist Church in Spring Hill. Elizabeth worked at Gray & Allen Drug Store where she met Jim Swindle. They later married on June 15, 1974. She later worked at Gordon’s Dress Shop, Sterchi’s Furniture and Heilig-Meyers Furniture. She eventually retired from Wal-Mart in Columbia where she worked as the Team Leader of the Modular Team.

Elizabeth had many hobbies including: collecting purses, perfumes, and ceramic mice from all over the world. She also enjoyed going shopping with her husband, Jim and had a very special love for her Chihuahua, Little Man. Elizabeth was a very giving, caring and loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Jim of 44 years, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother: Gary (Theresa) Swindle of Magnolia, MS; and cousins: Joe (Lois) Kelley of Culleoka and Doris (David) Kincaid of Culleoka.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt: Clara Kelley; and uncles: Hazen Kelley, Elvin Kelley, and Floyd Kelley.

Honorary pallbearers will include all of the past and present employees of the Columbia Wal-Mart.
